Assistance Requested: Discouraging a Move to Florida [1]

My Pakistani doctor, for whom I have great respect, is considering accepting an offer in Florida. He doesn’t seem to be aware of the political climate there, possibly including abortion restrictions/prohibitions, allowing medical personnel to refuse care to LGBTQ patients, prohibitions under consideration to prevent certain non-citizens from owning property, and the general anti-immigration and bigoted nature so common there (as well as in other states).

When he mentioned this to me, I was appalled, and immediately spoke up to discourage him, but without documentation behind my remarks there’s little I could say. This gentleman is an excellent doctor and will do well anywhere. However, being slight and dark-skinned, I fear for his safety in Florida.

Can anyone assist me by directing me to succinct news articles — about racism, fascism, and general right-wing craziness in Florida — that might help discourage this man from choosing this potentially unsafe move?
