Poverty, By America is the newest book from

Matthew Desmond, who lays out how we could

reverse the obscene income inequality that has plagued our country since the 1980’s.

It’s a good book but, I just want to focus on a small part of the book.

In chapter 2, he writes about how we began to dismantle our social safety net, beginning with the Reagan administration.

www.usaspending.gov/… is an interesting website that tells you a bit out government spending, and state spending. I haven’t figured out how to find what each state withholds from their citizens but I know someone will find it useful. Another site is nationalpriorities.org.
