(Democrat edition) [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.', 'Backgroundurl Avatar_Large', 'Nickname', 'Joined', 'Created_At', 'Story Count', 'N_Stories', 'Comment Count', 'N_Comments', 'Popular Tags'] Date: 2022-12-30 I keep seeing things like nuts and bolts of a campaign and thinks like that. This is great but only has value every two years, often when critical decisions have been made. What is going on in New York right now (where I grew up) reminds me of Florida. Twenty years ago my retired father was heavily involved in Democratic politics there. I remember sitting around drinking beers and eating oysters with some of his compatriots. They knew the Florida Democratic party was broken. They desperately wanted to fix it. They did not know how? It was too opaque and frustrating. At the time Florida was a 50/50 state probably leaning Democrat. The statewide party continued to run it into the ground. After my father’s funeral many of the people went down to political offices with pitch forks. They were going to change things in his memory. They ran into an invisible wall. The same thing seems to be happening in New York. Hochul is planning to nominate a judge that will completely alienate the base and will split the party. She just tells Democrats to pound sand. The leader of the Democratic party is inept, incompetent and most probably corrupt. Everybody hates him. My guess it is the same as it was in Florida. Nobody knows how to remove him (or the people who do want to protect the status quo). We want better elections. We need to clean our own house first. And somebody needs to make very public where the broom and wash cloths are kept. Everything should be transparent. Why is it not?
