The House should disqualify insurrectionist Republican members under section 3 of the 14th Amendment [1]

Dear Senator Padilla,

I can't write to my own member of Congress, Tom McClintock, because of his loyalty to the Republican Party over his loyalty to the U.S. Constitution.

So I'm writing to you to ask the U.S. House of Representatives to invoke Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment to permanently disqualify at least 15 insurrectionist Republican members of the House. The January 6th Committee has compiled a voluminous factual record of the participation of Republican members of the House in the criminal conspiracy to disrupt the count of electoral votes on January 6, 2021, and overthrow our democracy.

Under Article I, Section 5, each house of Congress is the judge of the qualifications of its own members.

Under the Fourteenth Amendment, Section 3, no person shall be a representative in Congress who, having previously taken an oath to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection against the same, or given aid or comfort to enemies of the constitution.

Consequently, it is within the power of the House of Representatives to immediately disqualify from future office those Republican members who rebelled against the Constitution or gave aid or comfort to its enemies. It appears that at least 15 Republican members should be disqualified. Disqualify them now, in this Congress, and then let them seek the 2/3 vote necessary in both houses of the next Congress to reverse their disqualification.
