It filled me with joy, humility, and sadness. We all must, and will age. I only hope that I can on my death bed feel as proud of myself as I am of Jesse Jackson. And of this guy that wrote this dairy at Democratic Underground. The diary at Democratic Underground is currently rocking the charts. 23. That’s the name of the diary. It’s disarmingly simple. The ultimate understated story of a true believer in American Democracy. It wrecked me. It demonstrates that each one of us has incredible power — when we take responsibly for ourselves and others, even just for one other as Jesse used to say. And you can still reach out to that one person! Now! Maybe your 14 will be the greatest gift you have given to Democracy this day! Because the point is that this is an every day affair. Every single one of you that performed and will perform similar heroic acts deserve all the benefits that a true Democracy will bring. The fight continues. I see you. I hold you up as who we all should be like. Over the last few days, I've been helping cure ballots for CD3 in the hope of defeating Boebert. I was able to do it from home, I was given a list of names of people who had signatures that needed to be resolved because they were not considered a match to previous signatures. I called them, explained the problem and walked them through the web site to correct their ballot. The people were all young people who simply did not have many signatures on record and since they change, they got flagged. I walked them through taking a picture of their current ID, getting the picture from their phone to their computer and uploading it to the site. Today is the last day so... Sheesh, back to it. oh, and 23... That is the number of ballots I've helped cure so far. It seems that almost every day of late I listen to the original Bowie song Candidate that so brilliantly crystallized everything I felt about politicians. I’ll not describe the ending of the song, so apt for the decade. But this part has always rung true, as it does today as McCarthy has to, deservedly so, deal with some of the slimiest, venal politicians I’ve ever seen in my lifetime. I frankly can’t wait to see them suck him dry. “If you want it, boy, get it here thing” [END] --- [1] Url: https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2022/11/16/2136613/-23 Published and (C) by Daily Kos Content appears here under this condition or license: Site content may be used for any purpose without permission unless otherwise specified. via Magical.Fish Gopher News Feeds: gopher://magical.fish/1/feeds/news/dailykos/
