How’s everyone doing tonight? The midterm elections are now over and some results are still being tabulated in a few states. Democrats had a much better mid-term election than many pundits expected. As of this moment, control of both houses of Congress is still up in the air. The Georgia U.S. Senate race between incumbent Raphael Warnock (D) and Republican challenger Herschel Walker will advance to a runoff election to be held on December 6 of this year. With incumbent Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ) holding a sizable lead over Republican challenger Blake Masters, some have already called the race for Senator Kelly. In Nevada, incumbent Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D) is currently trailing Republican challenger Adam Laxalt by 798 votes. According to most analyses, Cortez Masto is expected to overtake Laxalt and hold that Senate seat. The race for control in the U.S. House Representatives is still murky but current projections have the Republicans taking over the House with a slim majority. Overall, a better than expected midterm election for the Democrats nationally and in some states (Michigan and Minnesota chief among them). But now, for the more important question: How are you doing? Elections tend to stress me out and very often I have to “check out” and do other things other than constantly refreshing my browser on Daily Kos or whatever social media browser I’m on and let’s not even get into the issues with Twitter!) I’ve been reading a lot. Doing some guided meditations. On Election Day itself, I keep my own posting to a bare minimum and after most of the polls closed (I voted on Election Day at 6:30 am). Thank goodness I did that; the last thing I needed was to have my emotions and my fears running amok. I feel...OK about the results but...you can never be too sure nowadays, especially with a joker like Number 45 running amok and apparently in a bad mood. So...how are you doing this evening? And what do you do to handle stress and anxiety about the elections or anything else that you care to share? Because usually, I don’t handle stress and anxiety all that well and I could use a few pointers. Comments below the fold.
