John and Anabel in Ghana- Curious Devices [1]

Just a very brief update because my computer has crashed and I am not sure I can even publish this.

John is my friend in Ghana who works to help the most needy and desperate of the poor there. He needed emergency surgery and, thanks to the generous help of the wonderful people here, we raised the money and he had the surgery last week. The surgery was much more expensive than we expected but enough was raised to cover the expenses, so that is a blessing.

For those who have been wondering how he is doing, he continues to recover. His face has looked a bit drawn in the photos he has sent me but I guess that is understandable.

Anabel is the little three-year old girl who was abandoned and left on the street when her mother, who was behaving irrationally, was hospitalized. Some kind street children, in desperate need themselves, took her to John, who managed to get her placed in a childcare center.

The mother has been released from the hospital because of no money for treatment but she is still in no shape to care for the child. The cost is more than we can afford, right now, unfortunately. But Amabel is being taken care of.

John just told me today that the little girl is crying for hours begging for her mother. Her face is broken out with pimples, which is disturbing. But at least for now she is okay.

I havwe to keep this brief becauseof my computer. Hopefully I can fill in details later.
