SO CATHARTIC: A First Diary [1]

Weezles luv kittens!

With two days to go before election day, our Republican candidate for governor has been desperately spamming my phone with text messages. I have dutifully ground my teeth and deleted these texts as they come in. I'm just not interested. I voted 2 weeks ago, I'm done, I did my duty, right?

But today I got a text from an entity calling themselves "RGA/NRA" promising that the Republican candidate would "protect the unborn" and "support the 2nd amendment". And I snapped a little bit. I replied:

"I voted early, and I voted AGAINST (candidate name). Go fuck yourselves, traitor Republican tools! I will never vote for an NRA endorsed candidate." I then deleted the text, just as I had deleted literally a hundred like it in the past month.

Within a minute, I received a reply: "You have successfully unsubscribed."

It felt good to vent. It felt good to tell these assholes off. It felt good to get that polite, tepid response. I only regret that it took me this long to say what I said.

But now I'm mad again. Why am I getting multiple texts from the Republican candidate, and jack-shit from the Democrats? Sure, our incumbent governor has the job locked up (knock on wood), but what about other Dem candidates? What about the next general election in two years? Why are Dems so humble about our accomplishments? Why are we serving steak, and letting the opposition sell the sizzle?

PS: After more than ten years of lurking, I have jumped in. This is my first diary here, and it's a bit ad lib, so sorry if it's unpolished. I have more material on the spike.
