Good morning, everyone.

When I wrote the last diary, I was highlighting the hypocrisy of the House Republicans receiving PPP loan forgiveness while using responsibility politics on student loan forgiveness.

I hope I made that point.

When I enlisted in the United States Navy, George Herbert Walker Bush was President of the United States. When I separated from the United States Navy, William Jefferson Clinton was President of the United States.

I emboldened the above section to make two points; one, elections have consequences and two, it makes a difference in policy in who is the president.

I signed up for the Montgomery GI Bill when I enlisted. I used it for tuition, books, lab fees, and yes, income.

I took advantage of the Federal Pell Grant.

I also looked for work study opportunities in community college to pay for extra supplies and income.

And since I did a few work study opportunities, I should mention that I may remember one of those opportunities was tax exempt. I had no taxes withheld from that paycheck.

I helped other separating service members and family members of veterans fill out paperwork so that they could receive their Montgomery GI Bill benefits for school.

I also filed using the 1040EZ and utilized the Hope Tax Credit.

This was from September 1995 until June 1999.

Here's my point; policies are there for those that need the help.
