A helping hand

Yesterday, with the greatest of reluctance I posted a request for assistance with my property tax. The response blew me away.

My goal of $3000 was achieved within 4 hours.

Later this week I will go to the town office and write them a check, and then take a deep breath for the first time in months.

I thank you, one and all — those who were able to help, and those who gave love and encouragement. I feel like I should do something in return, to earn the money. It is not a reluctance to accept help, but a deeply-ingrained feeling that I should do something for all of you in return.

When I have a little more breathing room I will make donations to the Groundworks Collaborative in Brattleboro, which offers support to people in need in southeastern Vermont.
