Some IRS messaging [1] ['This Content Is Not Subject To Review Daily Kos Staff Prior To Publication.', 'Backgroundurl Avatar_Large', 'Nickname', 'Joined', 'Created_At', 'Story Count', 'N_Stories', 'Comment Count', 'N_Comments', 'Popular Tags'] Date: 2022-08-22 I'm sure that we've all seen articles now about how the right/far right is going bonkers about the very-much-needed expansion of the IRS, thinking that it constitutes a "shadow army" that's coming for them or small businesses owners. Biden has been trying to reassure them that that's a bunch of ballyhoo, but it doesn't look like it's landing much. So I've got some ideas on messaging that Democrats can use, tailored to conservatives, to try to placate them and to try to view the IRS positively. --------------------------------------------— "More IRS agents means that it that they'll be able to process tax returns faster. So if you're due a tax refund, you'll get that back faster." "You don't need to worry about them coming after you if you're a law-abiding citizen who pays their taxes; they're going after the tax cheats. You are a law-abiding citizen, aren't you?" "The funding for the military comes from taxes collected by the IRS. So it's patriotic to pay your taxes, given that it pays the military to help protect our freedom. The extra IRS agents are there to make sure that tax cheats comply with their patriotic duty." ---------------------------------------------— Thoughts?
