If you reached for a Columbia windbreaker in a rainstorm, you may have been unwittingly participating in this year’s hot trend gorpcore. What it gorpcore? Here’s an introduction from Vogue UK.

Vogue UK writes,

“If you weren’t already aware, there’s a buzzy term for our puffer-obsessed, practical footwear purchasing, ‘long walks in gilets’ mindset: Gorpcore. The Cut coined the phrase back in 2017, inspired by the expression “good ol’ raisins and peanuts”, a colloquial way to describe trail mix (i.e. a hiker’s snack of choice). Paired with the unfussy casual traits of normcore and hey presto, ‘Gorpcore’ was born.”
