I disagree totally. Words have power. We write, therefore we know this. Progressive as a term is like Conservative so ill defined that it can mean ANYTHING. I know folks are going to try and define it for me in the comments. Go ahead. Look at how many different definitions you get. My personal suggestion, and one that I’m making to Kos directly is that the site rebrands itself as ‘Realist’. Why realist? We need to look to agreement rather than disagreement. We may not agree on what a Progressive is, but we can agree that anyone operating with incorrect information is unlikely to reach the answer that coincides with Reality. If your answer doesn’t coincide with reality, bad things will happen to you, and anyone who tries to implement your answer. Look back to early posts by Kos. They were all about REALITY. Look at the excellent coverage by Kos, Mark Sumner, and Anielli on the Ukraine War. It is all about REALITY. Look at all the posts on gun violence, abortion, fascism, racism, sexism, etc. Those posts are almost all based on REALITY (let’s face it, we ALL get delusional at times). So that’s my argument. The Daily Kos is a REALIST site. We see problems, we try to come up with real solutions to solve those problems. I’ll be skipping any comments on the definition of Progressive, to me that’s like arguing how many angels can stand on the head of a pin, but I’m extremely interested in comments on why I’m right or wrong about considering Daily Kos a Realist site.
