That’s the first time a mass shooter has been stopped by a civilian carrying a weapon in public in spite of what the NRA keeps telling you. Say it loud enough, say it often enough, wait long enough and it might come true eventually. All I can say is, Yes, it was a good thing he was there with his gun, he did what so few can actually do, but I’m betting he had some training. This is totally different than the housewife who thought she was helping the store security when she opened fire on a vehicle being driven by suspected shoplifters in the parking lot, she didn’t stop them and was arrested herself for endangering the public. So where was this hero the other 349 times this year? /s (no offence intended) The NRA has always said, “the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.” So, for once and just the one time, they were right, but one time out of how many in the past 6 years? I don’t think that justifies the cost. One last thing that I found interesting, the shooter was 20 years old and the hero was 22 years old. Somehow, I fail to understand why a twenty-something feels a need to go to a store armed with a gun, good guy or not. If you are packing a gun, you are looking for trouble and you don’t have to look for trouble, it will find you. Anyway, this kid did the right thing with his gun.
