IF the Rules of Game still matter anymore. — This new IPSOS Poll has some very interesting results, so I decided to highlight some of them. Hopefully the time has come to leverage these overwhelming public sentiments — especially when the majority of Gun Owners agree ... Most gun owners favor modest restrictions but deeply distrust government, poll finds Morning Edition, NPR — July 8, 2022 The overwhelming majority of gun owners are in favor of universal background checks, of raising the minimum age to buy guns to 21 and so-called "red flag" laws to remove guns from potentially dangerous people, a new NPR/Ipsos survey finds. [...] Support for some gun-control measures More than 8 in 10 gun owners said they are in favor of universal background checks for all gun sales, including private sales and at gun shows. That's similar to the almost 9 in 10 of all Americans who say so in other surveys. Roughly two-thirds or more are in favor of raising the minimum age to buy an assault-style weapon to 21 (72%), raising the age to buy any kind of gun to 21 (67%) and red flag laws (65%). [...] Here’s the actual NPR/Ipsos Poll: Gun Owners summary table: Here’s some of those same American sentiment/temperature gauges, in chart form: Universal Background Checks: YES Raise the Age to 21 for AR-15: YES Raise the Age to 21 for ANY Gun: YES — The party of gun-madness should be challenged at every turn, going into this next Election: Do you support Red Flag laws — like 65% of gun owners do? Do you support raising the age to 21 to buy any gun — like 67% of gun owners do? Do you support raising the age to 21 to buy an Assault Weapon — like 72% of gun owners do? Do you support Universal Background Checks laws — like 84% of gun owners do? Seriously Mr. Candidate: Why do you want to make it easier for dangerous people to get the weapons of war? Don’t the rights of their victims matter equally as much — you know, the Right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness — without the constant threat of being killed by some hothead, who had no business owning such deadly weapons, in the first place? We don’t let just anyone drive a car, without proving their competence — so why do YOU support letting just anyone buy the modern-day version of a machine-gun, without similar competence checks — besides reaching the ripe old age of 18? — — I hope these kind of questions make it to the Ad Campaigns too. Most of America is very tired of mass shootings of innocent victims … it’s the new “American Tradition,” that nobody wants . The Question is why does the GOP insist on protecting and enabling the shooters — and NOT the shooter’s victims? Don’t their damn Rights matter too? Seriously Mr. Candidate: Don’t the rights of the victims of Gun Violence matter too? Take your time, and answer the question please … that is, assuming you want my Vote. — It’s called “senseless violence” for a reason — such mass shootings make no sense, in any sort of rational society, that values the principles of freedom, responsibility, and the pursuit of happiness. It’s long passed time, that the results of this IPSOS Poll were made a serious Campaign issue. IF Freedom really matters in America anymore. Everyone’s Freedom. Not just that of the Gun-owners, however “responsible” they may, or may not, turn out to be. — — Some traditions are worth protecting ...
