[1] The great wall is protected with new technologies ['Please Enter Your Name Here'] Date: None The Great Wall, monument symbol of the eastern civilization, will be protected with artificial intelligence and drones with a system that will be carried on by an agreement signed by Pekin government and the U.S technological giant Intel. According to the agreement, the second biggest producer of semiconductors and microprocessors and the Chinese Foundation for the Conservation of the World Heritage will explore ways to collaborate in the inspection, reparation and preservation of the Great Wall, with more than two millenniums of history in its most ancient chunks. To begin with, Intel drones will collect images of the chunks of this monument and will use 3D designs to identify damaged zones. ¨The use of state of the art technologies will give a new perspective to the protection of the Great Wall and will show us the huge potential of science and technology in the protection of the world heritage¨, quoted to Xinhua the director of the Chinese Foundation, Li Xiaojie, after the signing of the agreement. With more than eight thousand kilometers of extension, the Great Wall –really formed by diverse walls interconnected and built in different dynasties is threatened by the water erosion and the wind besides the human activity in its nearby. Its restoration is affected by its great size. According to press reports, the national foundation in charge to preserve the cultural relics united with the Intel technological enterprise in this purpose with the hope to obtain better images of the monumental work and locate with higher accuracy the most affected chunks. The reconstruction works in the Great Wall are affected since many sections are located on steep hills and surrounded by vegetation besides human menaces. Beijing will invest 155 million yuanes (24 million dollars) to complete in 2022 and with original bricks the reconstruction of the chunk of 7.7 km and 51 towers that passes through the city. Last year the capital finished renovating a section of one thousand meters and machines to lift stones of more than 500 kgs through a 200 meter high slope were needed. How many meters measure the chunks of the Great Wall? The chunks of the Great Wall in Beijing measure 573 km and of these 526 km are from the Ming dynasty (1368-1644). This ancient fortress was lifted since the 5th century b.c to protect the northern frontier of the Chinese Empire from attacks. It has totally seven thousand km long and it expands since the boundary with North Korea until the desert of Gobi. The Great Wall was declared World Heritage by Unesco in 1987.
