Unmasked: Inflatable frog tormenting ICE is non-binary ‘Antifa terrorist’ [1] [] Date: 2025-10 A protester in an inflatable frog suit who has risen to notoriety over clashes with immigration officers is a self-identifying non-binary Antifa terrorist, The Telegraph can reveal. The “Portland frog” has become a symbol of resistance for Left-wing agitators in Portland, Oregon during nightly protests which have plagued the city for months. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were filmed pepper-spraying the anonymous figure through his inflatable disguise, with the video quickly going viral. Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement The person in the costume can now be unmasked as Seth Todd, a non-binary 24-year-old who previously called for the murders of Donald Trump and police officers. In posts online, Mr Todd previously called for the murders of Donald Trump and police officers In since deleted social media posts, Mr Todd, who uses the online name Apollo Toad, called for the Trump administration to be “bombed” and suggested that the only good police officer is a “dead one”. “Someone just needs to bomb this administration. This government needs to burn and a bullet needs to be put in every one of Trump’s cronies heads,” one post read. Another added: “Trump is fascist tyrant Nazi, and if you support him, well that makes you a Nazi. And the only good Nazi is a dead Nazi.” Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement A biography on a now-deleted Facebook page dedicated to Apollo Toad said: “Just a little gay non-binary toad and proud Antifa terrorist.” Mr Trump has moved to send the National Guard into Portland to provide protection for ICE agents in the city who are tackling nightly skirmishes with demonstrators. The US president said “Portland is burning to the ground” and was being plagued by “insurrectionists all over the place”. Portland, once viewed among Democrats as a liberal utopia for its progressive policies and environmental focus, has been dogged by rising crime and homelessness which some link to its lax drug laws. Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Possession of small amounts of drugs was decriminalised in 2021. Portland has become the latest test case in Mr Trump’s efforts to send the military to Democrat cities he claims are overrun with crime. Months of demonstrations outside an immigration facility have escalated since Mr Trump declared he was deploying federal troops to the city, which he described as “war ravaged”. Mr Todd’s now deleted Instagram account On Wednesday, Mr Todd issued a grovelling apology for endorsing violence against the president and police. “I’m not violent in any way. I don’t have any desire to cause harm to anybody,” he told The Telegraph. “These are just more things set out of frustration and I obviously need to be more careful with what I say.” Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Mr Todd’s role in rallies outside the detention centre has stunned family members who say he has fallen into the wrong crowd. Adopted by a single mother, Mr Todd graduated from high school before attending Timberlake Job Corps, a government-funded career training centre for young adults. Despite being a bright teenager, a family member said he became rebellious as he got older and began taking interest in anti-government movements after he got in “with a homeless crowd”. A family member said Mr Todd started taking interest in anti-government movements before staging the demonstrations The family member, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said he chose to dress as a toad because he “didn’t want to be identified” at protests. Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement “The whole thing is silly,” they added. “I’ve talked to him over and over again about it, if you want to protest, that’s fine. Let’s do it peacefully. “I don’t know why [he’s doing it].” Interviewed after being sprayed by police, Mr Todd said he had chosen to dress as a frog to show “how absurd” the response to the protests was. Asked about the incident, he said: “I kind of coughed a little, but that was about it. That’s about as much as it did to me. Nothing else happened. It’s just a little peppermint taste. You know, I’ve tasted spicier.” Credit: Bennett Haselton/X City leaders who claim they do not need the National Guard to help handle the disorder were given a boost when a federal judge blocked the admission from deploying any National Guard units to Oregon on Sunday. Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement This weekend, around 200 members of the California National Guard who had been on duty around Los Angeles were reassigned to Portland. Approximately 100 landed in Portland after midnight on Sunday and around 100 more arrived by the early evening. Mr Trump has authorised the deployment of 300 Illinois National Guard troops to protect federal officers and assets in Chicago. Apollo Toad has become a cause celebré among Left-wing Portlanders with others taking his lead and dressing up as animals and characters from video games when squaring up to ICE agents. Kristi Noem, the Homeland security secretary, labelled a man dressed as a chicken as “uneducated and ill-informed” while visiting the detention centre on Tuesday. Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement “Hey, guy in the chicken suit. You can do better. Too bad they are uneducated and ill-informed,” she said from the roof of the detention centre. Police have made a series of arrests during the protests, including of conservative influencer Nick Sortor, who was later released without charge.
