Dead Space is, well, dead [1] ['Grant St. Clair'] Date: 2025-12-09 If there's anything EA seems to like more than making money, it's not making money. The Dead Space remake elevated one of the godfathers of modern survival horror to a prettier, more gruesome form than ever, delivering on every single one of the original's scares in newfound high fidelity and selling millions of copies for their trouble. Naturally, the question on everyone's lips was "when they are doing Dead Space 2?" It was an easy slam dunk, and the first remake seemed more than successful enough to justify the expenditure… until now, at least. Despite Dead Space's sales numbers, internal EA communication obtained by the (reliable!) scoop machines over at Insider Gaming would seem to indicate that the series is, in fact, dead in the water. Or, well, space. Sources have told Insider Gaming that the series has been put "on ice". That's based on internal messaging happening within the company. Sources added that with the direction of EA, they don't expect the series to be picked back up anytime soon. That includes the idea of a remake, reboot, or sequel. That said, there is still of a future for the 17-year-old series. With reports that the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund [is] in a tough spot financially after the EA sale, those who spoke under the condition of anonymity are hoping that EA, under the new ownership, would want to sell the IP. Granted, this doesn't come as much of a surprise, as we haven't heard anything about Dead Space in the years since that remake dropped. Another of EA's big singleplayer franchises recently received a similar death knell, seeming to indicate that we're getting nothing but yearly sports games and Battlefield forever. Fun!
