Feature-length Fallout fan animation depicts a pivotal moment in series lore [1]

War never changes, but it does occasionally shift into badass animated form. You ready for Season 2 of the Fallout TV show? No? Well, it'll be upon us soon anyway. Before it drops later this month, though, I'd like to direct your attention to another adaptation of Fallout: New Vegas.

Operation Sunburst is one of the more important events in series lore, but the player never actually gets to see it. It's a battle in the recent past between the New California Republic and the techno-feudal Brotherhood of Steel over a solar power plant, which you can imagine might be a little important in a post-apocalypse. More crucially for the player's journey, it's one of the key inciting incidents for the entire plot, setting several characters on a collision course with your playthrough. (And even more, if you have the DLC!)

Animator and evident hardcore Fallout fan SODAZ has taken it upon himself to bring this critical battle to life with a lavishly animated 50-minute short film that's even attracted the attention of Josh Sawyer, the original game's director. You can't get a better seal of approval than that. (It gets violent, though, so keep that in mind.)

As Sawyer says, it's cool for lore heads, but it's also cool for anyone else who likes seeing the increasingly outlandish tactics both sides throw at each other. And if nothing else, it'll be important background information to have in your head for Season 2!
