Title: Catching up 2025 Date: 20250112 Tags: me ======================================== Holy crap, it's 2025 already? I didn't realize I hadn't written anything for so long. I guess it's mostly because I wasn't doing much retro-computing which was what I always felt my focus was. This is gopher, after all. Looking back, though, gopher was more of a general purpose space. My web blog ended up more retro focused. I didn't completely stall out on retro stuff. I spent some time learning about CP/M disk formats and relearning some C targeting my Altair 8800c using z88dk[0]. I want to redo that work in assembly and incorporate it into the OS I was writing. I also took an unusual (for me) side track to play through Deathlord on the C64. I used VICE, actually. I'm not much of a gamer but The Lost Sectors[1] did a full play-through on YouTube and I've been a fan of there's and part of their small community for a few years. I had watched their play-through a couple of times and I was finally motivated to play it myself. I was a fun experience, but maybe not in the way games are usually considered to be fun. The unfair brutality of the game is it's own entertaining experience somehow. I'm starting to get a bug to restructure and do more updates to my blog[2] and continue to add content to this phlog so we'll see if I actually do that or if the next post is my surprise at it being 2030 already or not.
