I know this is a trivial question but I am new to Mac utilities.

We need to compress a number of large files and on UNIX these files can
be compressed at a rate of 90%.

I found some tools on info-mac but there are so many of them. All we
need is a simple compress/uncompress programme. I saw a MacCompressor
but no uncompress tool.

Can anyone give a simple-easy solution? E-mail response is prefered
