I've been working for some time on trying to get a faster TCP running on our
Alliant FX/8. Previously I'd benchmarked the machine at 100-120KB/sec transfer
rates using the Multibus Excelan ethernet board. I've now gotten 160-180KB/sec,
using the header prediction code from the 4.3 BSD Reno networking code. Still
not blazing fast, but significantly better than before.

This code is running on FX/8 & Concentrix 5.6. I plan to try it on FX/800
running Concentrix 2.1 as well. Also, I have not yet tried it with the new
CMC ethernet boards, but will do so fairly soon. Apparently we need to
upgrade the FX/8 to Concentrix 5.7 before we can use the new ethernet board
there, though.

Um, out of curiosity, how many folks out there already have the new CMC
ethernet boards on their FX/8[0]s?
