Recently I posted about having problems with the 4860 motherboard frm
Hauppauge not being able to handle incoming async at 19200 under ISC unix
2.2.1. Although FAS reports that it initted two 16450s, the actual UART
is a PLCC chip from UMC labelled :

        UM82C452L
        9031S
        529660

I've been told that this contains two 16450s, and possibly also handles
the parallel port. As this isn't just a simple yank-the-450s and
stick-in-the-16550As case, what can I do ? Does anyone know exactly what
this chip is, and more to the point, is there a replacement for it that
will contain the 16550A FIFOs ? Any help would be most appreciated :)

Thanks - Dean (reply to uunet!areyes!deano)
