Which is why the copyright law has the "fair use" exclusion --
allowing you to make video/audio tapes, quote or make a copy of an
article, etc.  One can, probably, even take a scanned image and keep
it for personal use.  It's when you start making many copies and
distributing them that you're no longer being fair to the copyright holder.

I don't mind paying the artist (and production company) for his work
and the copyright law insures that happens.  The alternative seems far
more abusive.
