Hello,

I would like to edit files using GNUemacs in a foreign language
with accented characters. If I could represent the accented characters with
ASCII>127 characters, I can then pipe my files through a program which will
replace them with the appropriate TeX sequences which generates the
accented characters on a postscript printer.

My inquiry relates to how I can re-map the keyboard such that
I can enter these ASCII>127 characters conveniently, such as by using
the less used math symbols, such as `>`, or perhaps, by using ALT-o
to get the accented version of `o`, and so on.

My second question is how I can download bitmaps for the
ASCII>127 characters, so I can actually see the accented character on
the screen, instead of the default symbol corresponding to the ASCII
value.

Does anybody know where I can get the programs and
documentation to do this? Though I am not very knowledgable about
computers, if sufficiently documented, I might be able to modify such
programs intended for another accented language. (Mine is Turkish.)

I do not regularly read the net, so I would appreciate it if
you can send any replies directly to haldun@isl.stanford.edu

	Thank you sincerely.

My equipment: Toshiba 3100SX laptop with 640x480 VGA screen,
						1MB RAM, 40MB hard.
