The Adaptec 4000A will probably be the best solution for this. This is
a ST506/SCSI controller which is also used in the original SH205.
Therefore, most software will be compatible with it.

You will also need some SCSI/ACSI hostadapter - any brand will do.
If you hook up a SCSI drive to your ST, you'll only need this
hostadapter and no separate controller, so you're right to suppose
this is much easier. It is not easier to connect an ESDI drive to
your ST - you will then need a ESDI/SCSI controller to convert
ESDI to SCSI.
