X11R4 has the necessary header files to use X with C++. Although it
takes a little editing of header files (a necessary evil in this
case), you can use the X11R4 function prototypes with X11R3. I
develop with g++ and SCO's Xsight (which, like the Apollo's X system,
is stuck at X11R3), so I know it works. The comp.windows.x newsgroup
has a faq list that says how to get X11R4 (but don't post this
question there, it get's asked too often)
