I have a question pertaining to related figures. Say I have 2 or 
more figures like  below:


    +---------------+         +------------------+
    | (a)           |         |(b)               |
    | Left figure   |         |Right figure      |
    |               |         |                  |
    +---------------+         +------------------+

Fig. N:Tale of two figures. (a) Left figure and (b) Right figure.

How can I reference it in my text such as illustrated below:

..............
 .......... The most important result is Fig N(a) but Fig N(b) 
seems to say otherwise .....

using something like \cite\{label} 

Maybe someone has already written such a LaTeX macro or style?
