Hi, I'm hoping somebody has run into this problem before.

System:
We've got a SS1+ with a 1.3 Gb HD and 600 Mb magneto-optical disk
running CAP 5.0 . Our local ethernet has Mac II's (ci/x) with ether2
cards attached running appleshare and ethertalk1. Our work involves
large disk transfers regularly (>50Mb).

Problem:
Usually our net is very reliable, but occasionally (1-2 /week) after a
large disk transfer has just been completed, the fileserver shuts down
and dumps core(aufs) in the current directory. The copied files have
always been fine, but it is a pain to reconnect to the server.
Also, the fileserver sometimes dies when in an application and scanning
directories in an open/close/save dialog box.

I've tried stripping DA's & startups from the Mac's but it doesn't seem
to help. Besides, it appears as though the problem is at the Sparc end.

Any ideas?

Please respond directly via e-mail. I will summarize if response warrants.

Thanks,
