What is special about the rasterfiles that snapshot reads and writes?
They are certainly Sun rasterfiles, as indicated by the file command
and the fact that I can manipulate them with other software that deals
with Sun rasterfiles. However many rasterfiles that are created with
software other than snapshot cannot be viewed with snapshot. It loads
them uncomplainingly, but they show up all white. Can anyone explain?
Are there utilities to convert an ordinary rasterfile to one
that can be viewed with snapshot?

A second, related, question. Can anyone suggest software to edit
rasterfiles under OpenWindows. Under SunView I used touchup very
happily. Is there something similar around for OpenWindows (or
X in general)? Thanks for all help.
