OK, so I ran fsck and I've got my mouse back (and auto-repeat on the keyboard
too--that was defunct for some reason). fsck asked me if I wanted to clear all
these unknown files (I said no), adjusted some inode counts, and I let it
reconnect a whole *mess* of files, all of which are sitting in the root
lost+found directory with numbers (their former inode #s) instead of names.
I am now faced with the task of putting these files *back* where they belong.
Anyone have any suggestions? Some are emacs directories--I know where they
go but don't know their proper names or permissions. Sigh. Maybe I'll call the
local NeXT rep and see what he can do....

Thanks in advance to all who help, or even attempt to help.

 Nik
