I have a friend whose Mac Plus has begun to scrunch up the picture on the
screen. It keeps blacking out the top and bottom quarter of the screen and
then squeezes the picture into an hourglass figure in the remaining lighted
area. I'm suspecting flyback transformer solder joint problems. Am I right?

Also, the Rodime 45 Meg hard drive just died so that no icon is visible and I
get a question mark on startup. I can only boot off and use the floppy drive.
SUM II and MacTools Deluxe don't work because no "damaged drive" shows up to be
fixed. Is there any hope for it? There seems to be a predominantly greater
percentage of Mac hard drives failing than, say, PC hard drives failing. Is
this true or just my imagination? If true, anyone want to venture a guess as
to the reason?
