We too have added all the uids and gids from our SGI and IBM RS/6000
systems to the Apollo registry, and we don't see these NFS problems.
Except that root on the Apollo can not do things on remote file systems
unless root owns the remote file/directory, our NFS seems pretty good,
given the flakiness/hesitations of TCP/IP on the DN10000.
