I wish that was it. In the above example I was mailing to one 
address "kriss@uwslh.slh.wisc.edu", with no other addresses 
tacked on.

Sounds like a decent idea. I think I've solved the problem (at least, 
I haven't gotten any bounced message recently) by ripping out all of 
smail and mush, rm'ing all the mail-related stuff, re-installing the 
original Xenix mail and execmail prog's, then re-installing smail. 
Iterated on said procedure 5 times, and eventually everything 
came together.:-) /2
