I too had this problem, so I changed my
/usr/local/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi/fonts.dir file. I added one to the number
at the top of the file, then made a duplicate of the line:

luRS10.snf -b&h-lucida-medium-r-normal-sans-10-100-75-75-p-58-iso8859-1

and then changed the 100 to 90, so the file now has:

luRS10.snf -b&h-lucida-medium-r-normal-sans-10-90-75-75-p-58-iso8859-1
luRS10.snf -b&h-lucida-medium-r-normal-sans-10-100-75-75-p-58-iso8859-1

This creates a font which is close enough to the one being sought so
that it can work.
