Subject: how well does mach deal with specialized processors

It would appear from the documentation on mach system calls, that
thread_set/get_state() could be used to control special processors in a
multi procssesor environment. For example a 386 or 68k based
workstation with a nummeric/graphics processor, transputer array, or
even a connection machine.

My question is: Has this been done in practice? How tollerant is mach
to heterogenious multiproccesor environments?

Has mach been used to control special proccessors which dont support
VM, and insist on referencing only physical memory addresses?
