With all this talk about Sears selling Apple II's, I have to laugh...
if they do decide to sell them, great! Wonderful! Won't Apple dealers be
ticked when everyone goes to Sears for a new machine? :-)

The problem here is development. I love the analogy about the Buick Century,
but mind you-- I can still go into any Buick dealer and get parts, NEW parts
which will bolt-on to my Buick to make it better. Granted, Buick may not
be building the parts specifically for the Century, but they'll work
none-the-less. For that matter, there are probably lots of companies making
parts for that old Buick to make it better-still... The problem with our
beloved machines seems to be a lack of overall support. I was pretty appalled
when I read the post about Applied Engineering using a 900 number for Apple II
support... what a show of gratitude. (Kinda reminds ya of Claris Corp and
AppleWorks- all that money from an Apple II program going into Mac stuff..!)

At any rate... you can wish all you want folks-- Macintosh, Inc. is here for
good, and all the screaming in the world isn't going to do squat. It seems
that the major hardware and software developers are following the money-trail
of the Macintosh. (Just out of curiosity, how many different Macs are there
now? 10-15? :-) ) Ah well, who knows, maybe five or six years down the line
they'll come to their senses, realize they've made a major marketing error,
and pick-up where they left off...

Apple II forever !
