I have written clones of the Unix commands tr(1v) and wc(1) for the
ST, and uploaded them to atari.archive (tr.zoo and wc.zoo). They
should be available there in a day or two. The archives include both
source and binaries, and these versions are EXTREMELY fast, thanks
to a customised (but portable) buffering scheme. If you use MiNT
with ksh or bash, you should probably grab these utilities.

I have also posted them to comp.binaries.atari.st, but you will
probably have to wait a week or two before they appear.
