Hi - I read a message in which someone had a problem similar to this
long ago but the message has long since been deleted...

The AT has 2M extended memory installed & himem.sys (2.60)
installed but whenever I try to run in standard mode, the computer
freezes at the title screen. It works in real mode but I want the added
capability. A call to Microsoft said the Award BIOS was incompatable
(it was v2.03) I bought v3.12 & installed. But Windows still freezes.
Microsoft is of no help.

I wonder whether it is the mother board or archiac keyboard BIOS
(which I didn't replace). The mother board is a Sun Electronics Corp.
SUNTAC ST612-A. I have no idea what type of keyboard BIOS I have. The
chip has the markings:
			+----------------------------------+
			| . P8042AH 2137 |
			| | L8120596 |
			| (m)(c)INTEL '81 |
			+----------------------------------+

Could anyone help me get around this? Is it the keyboard BIOS?
(Microsoft says this is rare.) Or is there some other problem? I've
worked quite a while on this but without success. I've tried all the
switch settings on HIMEM, with my computer at 0/1 wait states, 8/12 Mhz
operation. My config.sys was pared down to just the himem.sys statement
& my autoexec to the path including windows. Is anyone using Windows
in standard mode on a SUNTAC motherboard?

Please e-mail me. If there is enough interest, I'll post a
summary.

Bob
