Graphics Gems is a collection of techniques (some are formal enough to
count as algorithms) contributed by various people. They range from
1 to maybe 10 pages long each and are categorized by subject. There
is example code in C in the appendix, which is not particularly machine
specific. The details of getting pixels onto a screen which fills half
of a "Graphics programming with your IBM PC" book is not discussed.

It's simply a *great* reference book.
