I'm not sure of the specifics, but "unoriented spatial kernel" I would
guess to mean something like a circular Gaussian function, where the
covariance matrix is

			\sigma^2 I

where I is the identity matrix.  Take a look in some vision books.  They
discuss oriented spatial kernels which are convolved with an image.
Don't know if this helps, but here it is anyway.
