Oops, I didn't look closely enough.  Right you are.  The "=" feature of
the C News sys file does not attempt to strip out duplicates from the
list of newsgroups that results.  One can argue about whether this is
a feature or a bug.  Geoff doesn't seem to feel it's worth fixing.
