This sounds as a description of Myth.

You can ftp myth from iesd.auc.dk (130.225.48.4). Myth is written in
C++, and includes many classes useful when writing a multi-user game
in the Hack and Moria genre. However, the game itself is rather
primitive.

Multi-player NetHack is a myth.	-- a fortune cookie.
