Did you know that the Internet originated as the ARPANet in 1969?
Back then, the Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) used most
of the same protocols that we use today to share information and
communicate on the Net. ARPA is the central research and
development (R&D) organization for the Department of Defense
(DoD). It manages and directs selected basic and applied R&D
projects for DoD and pursues high-risk research that may result in
dramatic advances for military and dual-use applications. From its
