This site provides a basic introduction to the research activities
being conducted by the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center Physical
Oceanography Group. This work promises to add greatly to our
understanding of the oceans through coordinated use of information
gathered in space. NASA's plan is to create a data clearinghouse,
or central databank, for all important oceanic information
collected at space centers around the globe. Although this site
does not yet offer any of these data, it does present visitors
with a brief overview of the project, its people, and a brief
mission statement highlighting many of its future plans. For those
interested in related information available on the Net, several
links to other government and private sector databases are
provided.
