This is the Web site for a small record company that has released
about 80 discs of new music, world music, classical music, and
jazz since the mid-1980s. You'll find much more than just a
catalog and information about forthcoming releases here. New
Albion's Web pages are simpler than those of the major record
companies and you may find the lack of hype refreshing. When you
browse through the pages for individual artists, instead of vapid
glitz, you'll often find information that is not available
elsewhere. The pages for composer John Cage, for example, contain
an online version of the most complete discography of his works in
print. You can also use the New Albion Web site as a hub for
exploring new music sites around the Net, because, unlike most
larger record companies, New Albion includes links to other
Internet resources on its artists. This is a commercial site
that's trying to do much more than just sell you something.
