NYU's Stern School of Business has made its most recent MBA case
available on the WWW. This case, "Banc One at the Crossroads",
forms the center of a second semester team building exercise that
is part of the MBA program at this prominent school: Case
Abstract: Battered in 1994 by derivatives losses and one of the
highest expense ratios among superregional banks, Banc One entered
1995 with its longstanding acquisition stragtegy on hold. While
the pace of bank mergers accelerated, Banc One found that its low
stock price kept it on the sidelines. Management wondered if they
could maintain twenty five years of double-digit earnings growth
internally -- and if so, how? Could they expand into…
