Period.Com, in addition to providing technology and news
information on the Internet, is building a substantial collection
of travel resources. Period.Com has developed an airline directory
which lists contact information about the major airlines on the
Internet. They are also developing pages on each country; designed
for the first time traveler, these pages give information and
photos illustrating the unique aspects of different cultures
worldwide. For example, the Japanese section has several photos of
religious shrines, market places, food and people in Japan.
Period.Com is developing this type of resource for several other
countries as well, as they also hope to provide travel-tip sheets
for each locale. A related project is the Virtual Safari, which
has a strong collection of photographs of animals that one would
find on safari.
