Gemini Project

The Gemini Project is an international collaborative partnership
formed to build two 8-meter telescopes, one on Mauna Kea, Hawaii,
and the other on Cerro Pachon, Chile. The Gemini telescopes will
provide complete sky coverage and are designed to deliver the best
image quality possible for a wide range of astronomical research
programs sponsored by the partnered countries. The participating
countries include the United States, United Kingdom, Canada,
Chile, Argentina, and Brazil. The project is scheduled to be
completed by 1999. This site details processes undertaken to
