OpenDoc (Apple Computer)

OpenDoc is a platform-neutral Apple technology focusing on
component software. The basic idea is that users should be able to
create custom solutions and applications by mixing and matching
small, inexpensive software parts instead of purchasing enormous
general-purpose applications with unneeded and unwanted features.
The first release of OpenDoc for Macintosh is available now, and
future versions of the Mac OS will rely heavily on OpenDoc
technology. IBM currently leads OpenDoc development for Windows.
